Smith & Wesson has just announced the EQUALIZER pistol, a 9mm micro-compact optics-ready carry gun with a 15-round capacity.
While there’s no shortage of 9mm micro-compact pistols on the market, companies are still trying to innovate on the concept to create the perfect carry gun. The latest attempt is from Smith & Wesson in the form of the EQUALIZER pistol, an optics-ready micro-compact with a maximum capacity of 15+1 in 9mm.
An evolution of the company’s line of EZ pistols, the EQUALIZER utilizes much of the same technology to help make a more user-friendly concealed carry gun. This means that the slide is easy to rack, the recoil impulse has been dampened and the single-action trigger features a short take-up and a fast reset. Each EQUALIZER pistol comes with white dot sights as standard, but the slides are optics-ready too.
Coming in at 6.75 inches long, 1.04 inches thick and a weight of 22.9 ounces, the S&W EQUALIZER pistol is very similar in size to the Sig P365 XL. It has a 3.675-inch-long barrel, fires using an internal hammer system and has an Armornite finish on the stainless steel barrel and slide. The manual, ambidextrous thumb safety and grip safety enable safe cocked and locked carry, and the textured polymer grip has an 18-degree angle for a natural point of aim. Other notable features include a reversible magazine release, a loaded chamber indicator and a Picatinny rail for mounting accessories.
Each S&W EQUALIZER pistol ships with three magazines, a 10-round, a 13-round and a 15-round. MSRP is $599 and it’s available now.
