NEW from SIG SAUER — the P385.
After the success and controversy of the P320 and the major success of the P365, comes another “new era of performance, accuracy, and innovation in striker-fired pistols.”
A hybrid of the P365 and P320 with some original design sprinkled in for flavor, the new P385 is a modular pistol that seems to be replacing the P320, at least in spirit. Ranging between full-size and compact depending on slide and grip modules, the P385 uses P320 magazines and a new P385-specific FCU, though it is closely modeled after the P365 FCU.
New to the P385 is a lower bore axis providing a smoother and more comfortable recoil impulse, and a new Trigger Block design and SIG Recoil Dampening System.
“The all-new SIG SAUER P385 was developed from the ground up,” said Eric McKenzie, Director of Commercial Product Management, SIG SAUER. “We’re driven to innovate, and the P385 delivers a new era of performance, accuracy, and innovation with several new features.”
The SIG P385 is launching in several flavors to start with and more to come. To start, Carry, Comp, Full, Compact, and MACH3D.
“Carry” has a 4.0” barrel and full-size grip, “Compact” has the same 4.0” barrel but a shorter grip. “Comp” uses a 4.0” barrel but has a longer slide with a built-in compensator and uses the full-size grip. “Full” is a 4.7” barrel and full-sized grip.
The MACH3D is a new line from SIG that features a 4.0” barrel, full-size grip, and the new MACH3D compensator, very similar to the one found on the P211.
All P385 models come with interchangeable “MagStraps,” allowing the user to modify grip circumference (S, M, L) and length from 17rd to 15rd flush.
These also feature slides that have SIG-LOC PRO optic-ready cut from the factory. While built for SIG optics using the SIG-LOC PRO cut, they are compatible with standard mounting footprints as well.
P320 magazines are back in business with the P385. All sizes and styles of the P320 magazine are compatible with the P385, depending on grip length.
The release of the P385 marks a new chapter in the SIG storybook. We’re at SIG NEXT testing out the latest versions, but follow-up reviews will be coming soon.
