AR trends for 2014 show the 5.56 NATO still dominating the AR-15 market, but the 6.8 SPC is surging in popularity behind it, with renewed government interest. Also, .300 Blackout will continue to be pushed by the gun media, despite mediocrity as a hunting cartridge. Large frame ARs chambered in .308/7.62 NATO are also becoming increasingly popular, with many more manufacturers producing models. The increasing popularity of non-5.56 NATO cartridges is a product of the AR’s acceptance as a hunting implement. Another trend for 2014 will be the number of AR makers that believe “mil-spec” isn’t enough, and don’t want to be hindered by it.

    • DPMS is garbage. I want the LWRC and possibly the Ruger too. And it’s a GOOD thing the Ruger doesn’t come in camouflage, those camo ARs you can buy look absolutely atrocious. If you want to cammie up your AR, get a couple cans of spray paint and some vegetation, at least that way it won’t look ridiculous.
