The 6th Generation of Glock has finally been officially revealed, and the changes are substantial.

9 major changes over the Gen 5, with some really surprising features added. For those of us who say Glock doesn’t innovate, it doesn’t really look like that has changed with Gen 6. But Glock at least listens to the market and has incorporated improvements that many shooters have been asking to see for several generations.

Glock Gen 6 Changes

  1. PALM SWELL: The palm swell contours the pistol to the natural curvature of the hand.
  2. RTF6 GRIP TEXTURE: The Gen6 grip texture (RTF6) combines two textures into one to create the perfect blend of performance and comfort.
  3. ENLARGED BEAVERTAIL: The enlarged beavertail encourages a higher grip while ensuring the slide can cycle freely.
  4. SLIDE STOP LEVER ENLARGED BORDER: The border surrounding the slide stop lever has been enlarged to prevent unintentional activation
  5. THUMB REST: The thumb rest is textured and extended for increased control during recoil.
  6. GLOCK SERRATIONS: The slide serrations are angled deeper into the slide to make the surface engagement more tactile for slide manipulations.
  7. TRIGGER GUARD: Undercut trigger guard allows for higher grip support and comfort.
  8. FLAT FACED TRIGGER: Each Gen6 pistol comes standard with a flat faced trigger for consistent finger placement and trigger pull. The trigger maintains the Safe Action® System for uncompromising safety and reliability.
  9. OPTIC READY: Gen6 pistols come optic ready with a system engineered for adaptability and durability.
Every generation of Glock G17

Many of these changes might seem small on their own, but combined, they will make for a very different feeling and shooting pistol, still backed by Glock’s legendary durability and reliability.

Not listed on the official changes is the fact that Gen 6 uses Gen V changes to slide.

Optics Ready

The most substantial single change for the Gen 6 is a total redesign of the optics mounting system and Glock’s abandonment of the horrible MOS system. This new system uses polymer plates, but in an interesting way that actually seems promising.

All Gen 6 Glocks come with the new optics system and will accommodate at least both RMR and DPP footprints. The slide has been redesigned to isolate the optic screws from the rest of the slide, giving more room for larger mounting screws and making it impossible for the screws or Loctite to interfere with the working parts of the pistol.

The polymer plates act more like sealing plates than actual mounting surfaces. While the polymer plates do have recoil lugs for the optic, the main force will be mounted through the screws that drive directly into the slide.

Glock Gen 6 Launch & Price

Launch for the new line is January 20th, 2026. 3 models will be released, including the G17, G19, and G45. MSRP is the same as Glock Gen 5 at about $650.
