You just finished cleaning a pistol and now it's time to re-assemble the parts. Where do you start? The Gun Digest Book of Automatic Pistols Assembly/Disassembly 4th Edition can help.

Whether you have a Colt 1911 or Walther P22 – or anything in between – if you like to clean and maintain your semi auto pistols yourself, this newly-revised edition makes it simple. With more than a dozen new models added, these step-by-step instructions include detailed photos of each step.

The list of handguns covered in this revised edition of Gun Digest Book of Automatic Pistols Assembly/Disassembly is shown below. While there are right around 100 models in the Table of Contents, the list of variants covered by this book is even longer – with over 300 models appearing in the index.

  • When reassembling the Walther P22, hold the sear in this position compressing it forward. Note that the sear spring has one slightly longer leg and one slightly shorter leg. The longer leg should bear against the receiver. As you are installing the hammer, place the hammer arm through the sear and slide it onto the receiver until the hammer pin can depress into the hole in the receiver.
