Congratulations to bobcdcloz, the winner of this week's book giveaway. Bobcdcloz's comment on our gundigest.com website won him a free copy of the Gun Digest Book of the .22 Rifle.
More than a dozen rifles received votes, but the overwhelming favorite was the Ruger 10/22.
C. Rodney James, author of Gun Digest Book of the .22 Rifle, also speaks highly of the 10/22. On page 71 of the book, Rodney says this: “William Ruger's 10/22 rifle came on the market in the early 1960s to set a new standard for reliability.” Elsewhere, he notes that “The 10/22 Ruger, with its rotary-feed magazine, did and does feed flawlessly without undue pressure, and sets each round in precise position to be picked up and aligned with the chamber center as it is slammed in.”
To find out if Rodney mentions your favorite in the book – and there's a good chance he has – get your copy in the Gun Digest book store.
According to the Foreword by Ken Warner, Editor, Gun Digest (retired), “Decades ago (Rodney) submitted manuscripts to the American Rifleman and Gun Digest and they were always chock-a-block with facts. Now he has done it again. This time he used a power dredge to dig up new facts about rimfire rounds and rifles you think you know about, and about rimfire history you never heard.” He sums up his assessment of Rodney's book with this thought: “Enjoy it. I did.”
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to weigh in, and remember to check the Gun Digest blog pages often – we’ll be giving away more books soon.

WAIT! You asked “What’s your choice for greatest ..22 rifle of all time?”
I told you my choice and I feel I should have won.
I don’t know how you picked the Ruger 10/22 as “MY CHOICE.”
The 10/22 is ok if you’re into aluminum and plastic, I am not.
Looks like I wasted my time.
