In what is undoubtedly the most unusual alliance in the hunting and shooting world this year, Mossberg teamed up with bow manufacturer Mathews to design seven new Recoil Reduction Series shotguns that all incorporate the bowmaker’s Harmonic Damper Technology. The design reportedly reduces felt recoil by as much as 20 percent. The damper is housed inside the stock and is positioned to interrupt the recoil wave as it passes through the rear of the gun upon firing. Weights floating inside the elastomer wheel absorb recoil vibrations as well and actually direct them away from the shoulder. The first guns in the series will include several waterfowl and turkey versions, as well as a field/deer slug combo and a tactical model. ($543-$630 depending on model;
