  1. I use my 1911 mainly for target practice and getting rid of those pesky gophers in our fields. It’s also my first choice for self protection if need be!I just won my 1911 government issue Metroarms .45 ACP and these two books would defenitly answer all my questions I have about this type of pistol!!!And they would also go good with all my Gun Digest books I have from the 70’s to late 90’s.Moved back to Gods country after living in the big cities for work purposes. Now its time to get back to my passion of guns and hunting!! That and a person can NEVER have enough knowledge of and about guns!!

  2. I enjoy my 1911 Special Combat Government model. It is a pleasure to shoot and is very accurate. I bought it mainly for target shooting but is also my primary home defense weapon, also carry it occasionally.

  3. My 1911, a Kimber Custom TLE/RL II equipped with a set of Crimson Trace Pro-Series Lasergrips (in the burlwood finish) & a Streamlight TLR-1s weaponlight, is used primarily for self-defense. It is my primary carry gun, and it sits in a bed-side holster for home defense as well.

  4. Like my good friend and SWAT commander told me, you can’t call yourself a gun collector if you don’t have at least one 1911. I took it as an order and now have 3. Best handgun I have ever owned or fired. Mine is for back-up and target shooting.

  5. A 1911 of one kind or another has been used to protect this country and my family since its inception, by my great grandfather, grandfather, father and by me now as my present day carry pistol. I love the 1911!!

  6. I own an M1911-A1 because it is a proven and durable design. It lends itself easily to upgrades, modifications, and customization. Parts are easily obtainable. It is versatile and accurate, and it fits my hand so well!

  7. I have 8 1911,s. Multi barrel lengths and calibers. I love the guns, great shooters. Have one in bedside table with Crimson trace sights for home defense, Shoot the 9mm and 38 super the most for target practice. The books would be a great addition to the collection.

  8. i recently bought a remington r1 enhanced model 1911.i took it out and shot it,i immediatly fell in love with it.i had been using a taurus pt-145 mill pro,and man alive the shot group, the distance, thecycling just everything about it was as you can tell i have replaced my ccw taurus, with my remington 1911.

  9. I would love to win these books as I do not own a 1911 YET….but would prefer to build my first one. I hve shot several friends guns and love the feel in my hand as it is rather on the small side and many others do not fit that well. Bu by wanting to be a sef taught gun smith I think the information contained here would be of great benefit to my task.

My 1911 would be used for home defense and also would like to shoot competitive with it.

  10. I crafted my 1911 with my own hands. It’s pretty special to me so I only bring it out once in a while when I go to the range. I hope someday to pass it down to a grandson or daughter so they can learn about and enjoy the simple complexity of John Browning’s incredible design and the the true meaning of the Second Amendment…Freedom.

  11. I use it for ALL – concealed carry, home defense, target shooting! However, “Carry” is where it spends most of it’s time… And, as always, I’d just like to say I would love to win the books too!!!
