  1. I would add to that the inability to get prescriptions filled due to lack of electricity, computer problems, inability of licensed personnel to get to pharmacy, supply chain problems on medications, and supply chain problems for precursors (components) of medications.

    Having lived in Houston during Hurrican Ike and seeing a major city without power for approximately 14 days you learn, very quickly from experience !

  2. Cash may not be available due to bank’s personnel shortage in a disaster or due to the computers being down – also the ATMs may not work for lack of electricity and/or the inability to get refilled due to supply chain and transportation problems.

    Also, credit and debit cards may not work due to internet, computer and/or electricity problems.
