Gun Sales Soar Following Obama Re-Election

Obama re-election sparks gun sales.Numerous news outlets report increased gun sales as firearms fly off shelves like “hotcakes” following Obama's re-election. Of course, Obama himself has said he intends to push for a reinstatement and expansion of the Clinton-era semi-auto ban during public debates. Those comments exasperated gun owner concerns.

“But I also share your belief that weapons that were designed for soldiers in war theaters don’t belong on our streets. And so what I’m trying to do is to get a broader conversation about how do we reduce the violence generally. Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced. But part of it is also looking at other sources of the violence. Because frankly, in my home town of Chicago, there’s an awful lot of violence and they’re not using AK-47s. They’re using cheap hand guns,” the President said.

From opposingviews.com:

Mel Bernstein, owner of Dragonman Arms in Colorado Springs, Colorado, told KOAA-TV: “We're going from normally six to eight guns a day, to 25. I stocked up, I got a stockpile of these AK-47s, we're selling these like hot cakes. Luckily I had an idea of what was going on because it happened with Clinton.”

John Kielbasa, owner of Fernwood Firearms in Hankins, New York, told CNN: “Sales are up. I had a guy waiting here first thing in the morning. He came in, bought two AK-47s. It's going to be good for me for business.”

Stock prices for gun makers Smith & Wesson and Sturm also went up after President Obama's re-election.

From The Telegraph:

Mel Bernstein, owner of Dragonman Arms in Colorado Springs, told KOAA-TV that sales of semi-automatic weapons had boomed in recent days.

He said: “We're going from normally six to eight guns a day, to 25. I stocked up, I got a stockpile of these AK-47s, we're selling these like hot cakes. Luckily I had an idea of what was going on because it happened with Clinton.”

Mr Bernstein said he normally orders up to 7,000 rounds a week from distributors but could now only get hold of 3,000 because of demand.

John Kielbasa, owner of Fernwood Firearms in Hankins, New York, told CNN: “Sales are up. I had a guy waiting here first thing in the morning (the day after the election.) He came in, bought two AK-47s. It's going to be good for me for business.”

  1. The problem, as I see it, is the fact that the reshime’ that is in the White House is hell bent on causing our nation to become a Socialist state and governed by the government, not the people. In my wildest dream, I cant understand why so many people cant see through the agenda of this guy. He’s not for anything that America stands for. He wont allow the national day of prayer, but 50,000 muslims can spread their mats out on the White House lawn and do their “bow thing to the East”, and that’s O.K. He tries to cover up the Fast and Furious fiasco (intending to give a lame reason for more gun control here in the U.S) by excercizing executive privledge. As if everyone doesnt know what he’s trying to do. And yes, I do believe he and all of the other government crooks are pushing for not only more gun control, but ultimately gun confiscation. You’d think America would have wised up by now. The problem is crooks in government have their hand in the same cookie jar and uniformed and non-caring, lazy, nieve people that dont give a damn about anything but themselves and what the government can dish out to them free. I could go on but why?!

  2. Gee, what kind of organizing did the community organizer do while he was there? The firearms ownership, reciprocity, regulations, certification of use and psychological evaluation issues as well as purchasing and gun show issues will certainly be a topic of much discussion over the coming months. Seems the USA is divided on these topics much like many other issues facing the nation. We cannot allow Gun Control measures to be tacked onto other laws. Compromise will have to be made if we want to keep peace within the borders of the USA. I don’t see the compromise being the style of weapons, or the size of the magazine, that is ridiculous and non-productive regulation. As much as I have doubts about the honesty of the government, I personally lean toward all state certification for ownership and all state reciprocity as a result (regarding conceal carry). Similar to a drivers license, a gun license should be valid throughout the USA with no specific stipulations from state to state. The Red Tape throughout our nation has to be cleaned up. We need to push for Education of Firearm use & safety in our public school system, beginning at least with the 6th or 7th grade. The world may be progressing toward greater modernization, but in doing so we are also creating greater chances of . . . . well let’s just say we cannot afford to have people in other nations running around, some armed with automatic weapons, more powerful weapons, while we try to disarm our own citizenry. We need to enforce the laws we have, we need to utilize the Ultimate Penalty when flagrant taking of life is a result. This will be a greater deterrent to those making it bad for the honest law abiding firearms owners of the USA. Free Room & Board is not a deterrent, it is a reward to low life’s who have no respect for the lives of others.

  3. There are only two more guns I want to get at this point, but I’ll be buying a lot of spare magazines and ammo for the ones I do have.
